Eighth Doctor is one of the Level Pack characters in LEGO Dimensions. He is the eighth incarnation of The Doctor that is playable when you purchase 71204 Level Pack for the Doctor Who franchise.

Background[]

The Eighth Doctor was an effortlessly charming, romantic figure. He was unguarded about his background and equally candid about what the future held for people he came into contact with. His first adventure took place in San Francisco at the turn of the Millennium with Dr Grace Holloway and Chang Lee in an epic battle with The Master.

Much later, after many adventures with many companions, the Eighth Doctor's fate is finally sealed during the Time War, as he attempts to rescue a young pilot named Cass, whose ship was crashing into the planet Karn. When Cass realized that the Eighth Doctor was a Time Lord and in her eyes an enemy, she refused his help and deliberately allowed the ship to crash into Karn.

After both failing to save Cass and being killed in the crash, the "Sisterhood of Karn" restored the Eighth Doctor to life and presented him with the option to choose what his next regeneration will be. The Eighth Doctor, though horribly conflicted, chose to become a warrior, in hope of ending the war once and for all.

At some point in his life, he joined both his later and previous incarnations in the shows 50th Anniversary special "The Day of the Doctor" where he helped to finally save his home planet of Gallifrey, during the special's climax.

Trivia[]

  • This incarnation of The Doctor was played by Paul McGann in 1996. He later returned in 2013 in the mini-episode "The Night of the Doctor".
    • Archive audio from the "Doctor Who (TV Movie 1996)" and the mini-episode "The Night of the Doctor", which both feature McGann, is used in-game for when the Eighth Doctor is talking.
  • The Eighth Doctor's appearance in-game is based on what he wore in the the mini-episode "The Night of the Doctor".
  • The Eighth Doctor's TARDIS interior is based on the one that we see in the 1996 TV Movie.
  • It's possible that the reason behind the earlier builds of the game showing that when you entered the TARDIS as the Eighth Doctor you would in fact be inside the War Doctor's TARDIS interior from "The Day of the Doctor" is because the original 1996 TV Movie TARDIS interior design wasn't finished at the time.
  • For some reason, the 1996 TV Movie theme isn't available from the In-TARDIS Entertainment. This is likely because the TV Movie was produced under 20th Century Fox and Universal Studios, rather than the BBC, with the BBC only recently acquiring rights to distribute the soundtrack.
