Background[]
Gnarlak was an American goblin gangster. He ran The Blind Pig, a magical speakeasy in located at 124 Macdougal Street in New York in the 1920s, which Newt Scamander visited when he was searching for information. When negotiating payment for his help, Gnarlak stated his interest in Pickett, one of Newt's bowtruckles, as they were reportedly able to pick locks. Newt refused this exchange. This prompted Gnarlak to inform Magical Congress of the United States of America of Newt's location. Gnarlak also carried two wands, which is somewhat unusual for a goblin as wizards do not permit Goblins to carry wands. This is because Goblins and other creatures such as House-Elves can use magic without wands. His skill in wand-based magic is not known.
Trivia[]

- One of his quotes, "It's nothing personal, kid. It's business." is a reference to Lord Business' quote in The LEGO Movie, "It's not personal, it's just business. Lord Business."
