Randall Peltzer went to Mr. Wing's Shop in Chinatown during a business trip to promote the Bathroom Buddy with no success when he heard Gizmo making noises for the first time. Immediately smitten by the friendly Mogwai, he tried to ask Mr. Wing to let buy Gizmo for $200, but the old shop keeper refused the payment, saying that the Mogwai is not for sale. However, his grandson later made a deal with Randall by the curbside without him knowing and Randall left New York with Gizmo inside the chest. It's possible that Mr. Wing punished his grandson for that particular action.
Gremlins 2: The New Batch[]
Six years later, Mr. Wing and Gizmo are living well in the former's shop when a group of men from Clamp Industries, lead by Forrester, approached Mr. Wing about selling his shop to let them start on the construction of a China-inspired multipurpose center. Mr. Wing refused, however, forcing them to leave, but Forrester could tell that Mr. Wing wouldn't stay long though from his coughing. A few weeks later, Mr. Wing passed away, but before opening Gizmo's cage, allowing the poor Mogwai to escape the demolition of the shop during this time.
Trivia[]
- The Gold Brick Puzzle here is reminiscent of Mr. Wing's meeting with Forrester in The New Batch, where Gizmo sneakingly took hold of the remote and watch Rambo from the TV set Forrester brought to the shop.
