Rome is a Mission: Impossible location featured in LEGO Dimensions. It appears in the Mission: Impossible World.
Background[]
Rome is the capital of the Republic of Italy located in the central-western side of the Italian Peninsula, along the shore of the Tiber River. It's also the location of Vatican City (an independent city-state) which is located with the city's geographical location, which explains why Rome is sometimes called the capital of two states.
The city's history is rich, spanning over more than 2,000 and a half years; while Roman mythology claims that the city was established around 735 BC, the city has been populated much earlier than the date itself, making it one of the oldest existing occupied cities in Europe. Originally the city's population was composed of Etruscans, Latins, and Sabines; the city became the capital of the Roman Kingdom, Roman Republic, and the Roman Empire, and is considered as one of the birthplaces of Western Civilization, and some said it could be the very first metropolis. However, after the fall of the Western Roman Empire, the city fell slowly under the rule of Papacy since the 1st Century, and later the capital of the Papal until 1870. The city was also made the capital of the Kingdom of Italy in 1871, and of the current Republic of Italy in 1946.
The city played an important role in the Renaissance with various popes such as Nicolas V pushing for the city's development as the world's leading arts and culture center. Today, the city holds the status of a global city: it's the third most visited European city, the 14th most visited global city and the most popular tourist city in Italy. Its historical city center is declared as a World Heritage Site; landmarks include the Colosseum, the Parthenon, and the Vatican Museums. The city was the host of the 1960 Rome Summer Olympics.
