Space Sphere (more commonly known as Space Core) is a corrupted personality core of male programming who first appears in Portal 2. He is the first of three cores attached to Wheatley by Chell in order to initiate a Core Transfer Procedure.
The Space Sphere speaks in a hyperactive manner, constantly talking about his infatuation with outer space and how he would like to one day go to space. However, a small portion of his dialogue states that he eventually gets bored of space and wants to return to Earth. His dream of going to space is fulfilled after he gets sucked through a portal that sends him and Wheatley into space.
Space Core appears in GLaDOS' chamber, where like Wheatley, he somehow returned from space and has the power of anti-gravity. After Chell and Wheatley corrupt GLaDOS' cores, he is the Substitute Core in a Core Transfer Procedure. Once he is connected to GLaDOS' mainframe, he unintentionally hits a neurotoxin pipe, bursting it and compromising the vents.
- In Portal 2, he is voiced by Nolan North who reprises his role in the game.
- He makes two references to internet memes during the events of Aperture Science. The first is a reference to the Doge meme, saying "Such space, very orbit, such black hole. Wow... space." The second refers to the Shrek is Love, Shrek is life meme, saying "Space is love. Space is life."
- This is possibly a reference to how his rapid speech has become a popular meme.
- As of Aperture Science, he is the controller of Aperture Science Enrichment Center.
