The Thief is one of the non-playable characters in LEGO Dimensions, from the Midway Arcade franchise. The Thief is the main antagonist in the All Your Bricks Are Belong To Us level.
Background[]
The Thief is an enemy in the Midway Arcade Game Gauntlet. In the game, he would steal potions from the player. He is also immune to their effects, so he must be defeated with physical attacks or ranged shots.
Dimensions Crisis[]
All Your Bricks Are Belong To Us[]
The Thief appears on Defender and steals the Foundation Element of the Midway Arcade universe: the Gold Token, from Batman, Gandalf, and Wyldstyle. The trio pursues him and finds themselves in Gauntlet. After chasing the Thief through several of the Labyrinth-like levels, they are then sent to Super Sprint. Once there, the Thief challenges them to a series of races on several circuits of the game. The heroes succeed, but the Thief once again steals the coin and the heroes pursue after him once more to Robotron: 2084, where they finally catch and defeat him along with other enemies from the game and other worlds that appeared in the Robotron Arena. After the heroes defeat the Thief and reclaim the Foundation Element, he is later transported back to Foundation Prime, where he is crushed by an angry Lord Vortech.
Trivia[]
- His hood is the same piece Wyldstyle uses (in one set) but re-colored.
- Although there is a piece which portrays a bag, his bag is just printed on.
- The printed bag is the exact same as the bag printed on Sam's torso
- His line, "Hahaha, you can't catch me!" is taken straight from the original Gauntlet game via Archive Audio.
- The Thief, along with many other characters from Year 1, make cameo appearances in the Ghostbusters (2016) Story Pack cutscenes.
- The Thief is the only enemy in the Midway series to be affiliated with Lord Vortech and one of the few Midway characters to appear in the Main Story.
- In cutscenes, The Thief is often seen turning at harsh 90 degree angles, as this is how characters in Gauntlet would move rather than moving diagonally.
